Camera Cloaked Cities

New York to Get 3,000 Security Cameras, Like London

New York City is planning a 3,000 public and private camera surveillance system patterned on London's so called “Ring of Steel” to monitor security in Lower Manhattan. This would mark a new level of observation and scrutiny of the public by police in the US and that has liberals squirming. Will Big Brother be watching you?

Implications - If the plan goes through, there will be a license plate-reader and about 3000 public/private security cameras below Canal Street. New York City's polic commissioner Raymond W. Kelly believes that this block is critical to the economy of the nation and would prefer to make it less vulnerable to crime within the city. It's a controversial plan considering how many feel that privacy is a right.
