Robotic Zhu Zhu Pets are the New Elmo of This Holiday Season

Move over Elmo; Zhu Zhu Pets are the toys to covet this holiday season. While we never expected it to happen (after all, who could deny Elmo?), these cute, cuddly, and artificially intelligent hamsters are on holiday wishlists everywhere.

Walmart and Target are already sold out of Zhu Zhu Pets. What makes them so special? First, their A.I. abilities, with a special code reader enables them to move and talk. They also have super-cute names like Pipsqueek, Mr. Squiggles, and Chunk, while Elmo is but one—albeit adorable—character (it’s not his fault!).

For kids who aren’t allowed to have their own pets, Huliq News puts it this way: “Zhu Zhu Pets are just like having real hamsters to care for, except they don’t eat, poop, smell, make a mess or die. If the batteries die, just buy more!”
