Remote Brakes for Buggies

UGO Safety Brakes Put a Halt to Speeding Strollers

For all you mothers on the baby stroller NASCAR circuit, your days of high speeds are over.

The UGO Safety Brakes, which were designed by University of New South Wales student James Wansey, work based on a wireless connection between a remote sensor held by the parent and a brake system fitted to the wheel. Should the stroller get beyond a distance of 2 meters from the parent, the wheels will lock.

As we all know, taking care of your child is never a joke. Wansey’s reason for the design comes from his concern about the number of children treated each year for stroller-related injuries in Australia. He said, referring to the product, that “it is a solution to this problem by providing parents with a product that will decrease their child’s risk of injury.”

Kudos.
