Neon Has Taken Over for Summer 2009

If you're not in neon, then you're not in. The LA Times did a fluorescent photo gallery of the neon that has been seen all over LA.

These flashes of brilliance were captured on famed Venice Beach. Christopher Kane launched the look a couple of years ago, but this spring Alexander Wang brought "Miami Vice" bright to the forefront.

Implications - Neon fashion may wax and wane in popularity over time, but it never completely fades away. With this in mind, brands and designers should not lose sight of how vibrantly inventive this iconic aesthetic can be when mixed with a little bit of creativity, flair and contemporary style. The smartest designers are the ones who are able to popular aesthetics of the past with current designs.
