Zac Sunderland Skips High School to Sail Around the World

Zac Sunderland is a 17-year-old high school student whose attendance record is far from perfect. In fact, he hasn’t stepped foot in his school for 7 months, as he is attempting to sail around the world in his 36-foot sailboat--alone--a feat that would make him the youngest solo sailor to circumnavigate the globe.

Zac took off from Marina del Rey, California on June 14th, 2008 and is currently at the southern tip of Africa. His position, his story, and a daily blog can be found at the link below.
