Silhouetted Models

Lily Donaldson in Vogue Nippon December 2008

Photographer Alasdair McLellan took some very striking black and white photos of UK model Lily Donaldson for Vogue Nippon’s December 2008 issue.  However, what stands out as unique and fresh are images of Donaldson replaced by a silhouetted version of herself.

As far as fashion trends go, it appears that with Vogue Nippon, anything goes. Donaldson looks smashing in the Japanese magazine with her Robert Plant video vixen hairstyle worn with couture ranging from modern to Arabic, and even 70’s to 80’s.

Black and white photo shoots in magazines appear to be all the rage this year so Vogue Nippon hasn’t really done something new.  What sets Vogue Nippon’s December 2008 issue apart from other magazines is their silhouetted images of Lily Donaldson—which I think, is pretty cool.
