Motorcycling is a thrilling but dangerous lifestyle. Now, bikers can avoid injuries and possible fatalities with an air-bag suit developed by Dainese.
Rather than being attached to the bike itself, the Dainese D-Air Suit's design uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to detect sudden changes in velocity and orientation to the ground. Whenever a change threshold is reached, the airbag will automatically deploy.
The D-Air has already proved itself during a recent Grand Prix race on the Valencia Circuit where three different riders benefited from this new safety feature and avoided injuries. One of these accidents was as fastest at 123km/h (77mph).
The Dainese D-Air Suit is projected to be available to the masses in 2010.
