Akoko Owner Unveils "Akara": A New Culinary Gem in Borough Yards

In a bold move celebrating West African culinary heritage, Aji Akokomi, the visionary behind Fitzrovia's Akoko, is set to unveil his second venture, Akara, in London's Borough Yards this October. The name "Akara" is derived from a traditional West African black-eye bean fritter, which will be a highlight on the restaurant's à la carte menu.

Akokomi expressed his enthusiasm for the new establishment, noting that the concept of Akara has been nurtured with passion. He remarked, "Borough has always been our envisioned location for Akara, a place where we can celebrate the rich and diverse flavors of West Africa."

Guests can anticipate a menu rich in variety, from akaras filled with Carabinero prawns to main courses like labu aged beef and nokoss sea bream. The beverage list is equally enticing, featuring Akoko's signature cacao and dates negroni, innovative concoctions like smoked plantain caipirinha, and a curated wine list spotlighting rare global grape varieties.
