Maybe it's because they're so far from modern fashion, but these floating vintage opera costumes have me totally captivated. E.V. Day created this installation at the New York City Opera from old-fashioned dresses from decades gone by.
"Day has chosen the garments from City Opera’s rich archive of retired costumes, and has transformed them into dramatic stop-motion expressions of the explosive energy and extravagance of opera," Design Year Book says.
The vintage opera costumes will hang from the ceiling of the New York City Opera promenade by fishing tackle, floating like ghosts with skirts and sleeves billowing outward.
