 Louis Vuitton LCD Screen Mini Trunk Cartoon characters have been a big influence on the s/s 08 catwalk. Designers are inspiring us to be playful and less serious with our fashion preferences. There were Bambi, Batman and Tinkerbell references on print T-shirts and dresses. However, it was Marc Jacobs who brought the ever revisited pop art style trend into the 21st century. Designing for Louis Vuitton, he walked down the catwalk with the new LCD screen mini trunk playing Sponge Bob Square pants. It was that handbags were a fashion statements. Soon it will be what’s playing on your handbag that will be making the statement.  The collection? It was a reconfirmation, in less extreme form, of the controversial show with which Jacobs kicked off the season in New York, full of nutty combinations of fabric and garish SpongeBob pastels. It was crazed, random, playful—yet grounded, as always, in bottom-line business sense. It's Jacobs' way of walking the line between creative freedom and commercial innovation.
