Want to spruce up your room with something unconventional, cozy and sustainable? The Cell rug is a bright idea (you'll see the pun). Created by Dutch design studio Lama Concept, these rugs are made entirely out of sheets of woolfelt (a natural, breathable and water-repellent material). The woolfelt sheets are cut into strings that are then put together in a random fashion, much like multiple cells that form an organism. Because it is made of strings, the rug can be easily repaired should the need arise.
The design on each string consists of an accent stripe (available in black or woolwhite) and woolwite dots. The best part is, the dots can be replaced with LED's (now do you get my pun?), available in several colours.
The Cell rug is made-to-order and is available in 32 colours.
