 Tesla Fires Design Team on Blog Tesla, the car touted by ‘60 Minutes’ as Silicon Valley’s answer to foreign oil, recently fired 90% of their Michigan design team. Tesla’s chairman is Elon Musk, the guy that founded PayPal. What makes this story stellar is that the Tesla people found out about being fired when they read the company blog. No pink slip, no phone call, a blog post on the company site. Tesla posted a list yesterday—the cork and pin kind—that outlines who still has a job and who doesn’t. Bad move for such a forward-thinking company.  According to a source, employees will show up to either find their name posted on a board or not. If it's on the board, they're laid off. If it's not, they get to meet with management and find out how long they get to wrap things up in Detroit and high-tail it out to southern California. With no moving assistance, extra pay or help selling their house, of course.
