Stolen Lock of Ramses II’s Hair Returns to Egypt (GALLERY)

Egypt’s antiquities chief, Zahi Hawass, and his Internet “spies” discovered the sale of a stolen lock of hair belonging to the ancient Pharaoh, Ramses II. The item was priced at $2,600 and was stolen over 30 years ago from the Cairo Museum. The thief was French postman, Jean-Michel Diebolt. Diebolt is the son of a French researcher, who examined the 3,200-year-old mummy in 1976. He is under investigation for “allegedly” possessing stolen goods.

Reports did not specify which part of Ramses’ body shed the stolen hair.
