Artist Steve Lazarides reinterpreted the nine circles of Dante's Inferno in the mysterious tunnels beneath Waterloo Station, London in an exhibition called 'Hell's Half Acre' for the Frieze Art Festival 2010.
Haunting silhouettes, dim orange lights and phantom ships in the vision of 15 artists selected by Steve Lazarides populated London's underworld for one week. The whole idea is "to put people slightly on edge," says the artist. 'Hell's Half Acre' by Steve Lazarides is one more step in his attempt to give a more elaborate touch to street art.
