The Patagonian Shadow Cabin, a creation by Chilean architectural studio DRAA, brings a distinct and evocative presence to Le Festival des Cabanes in France. Designed as a means to provide shade for individuals while optimizing the breathtaking presence of the surrounding views, the pavilion boasts an oversized red-vinyl roof and a wooden structure composition. For the design, DRAA drew inspiration from traditional Patagonian architecture—particularly the seemingly simple yet purposeful roof that provides shade and serves as a marker in the landscape.
When creating the Patanogian Shadow Cabin, DRAA was mindful of creating a design that could be easily integrated into the landscape—the wooden framework of the structure, as well as its off-center pillar and buttresses, help with this.
