Key Breathalyser Prevents DUIs - Saab Alcokey

Impaired drivers are one of the most serious problems facing the traffic community, an issue car company Saab takes very seriously.
The auto manufacturer is currently developing an innovative system that incorporates a miniature breathalyser into the ignition key to prevent potential people from driving under the influence.
What makes the Saab ‘Alcokey’ unique is its compact size and its affordability – around $400. Tests are currently being done in Sweden with the support of the influential Swedish National Road Administration.
Driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and drugs is responsible for countless accidents and deaths each year; an innovative product like could revolutionize the future of driving, increasing safety on the road for everyone.
Companies operating large car fleets could be anxious to demonstrate their social responsibility by having an alcohol-detecting device such as Alcokey fitted as standard. Insurance companies may also provide incentives for drivers of cars fitted with Alcokey.

Last year alcohol was a factor in 29 per cent of driver deaths on Swedish roads.
