For next season, Dries van Noten introduced potato sack frocks, which could, perhaps, be a nod to the economy. The designer, who is well known for his loose-flowing clothing, sent several models down his Fall 2009 runway wearing oversize beige pieces.

As usual, the fashion crowd loved his easily wearable suggestions for the season that underscored the understated fashions of America and Europe. Who knew potato sack frocks could be so lovely.

It boils down to simple suggestions: an easy-fitting blazer to slip over a blouse and fluid pants; a draped day dress; a sweater to wear over a long skirt for evening. (style)
