AI Thermal Dash Cams

Vantrue Uses Thermal AI to Detect Vehicles, Pedestrians and Wildlife

Vantrue is advancing AI thermal dash cams by combining heat-based imaging with automated hazard detection for low-visibility driving. The system detects vehicles up to 100 meters away and pedestrians, cyclists, and wildlife at distances of up to 70 meters. Its thermal sensor captures heat signatures in darkness, dust, fog, and smoke, while a 4x Super-Resolution algorithm converts the native thermal feed into 1024×768 video. Color-coded alerts help drivers recognize potential collision risks without continuously monitoring the display.

The technology expands the traditional dash cam from a recording device into a proactive driving-safety tool. For Vantrue, combining thermal imaging, AI detection, campsite surveillance, and vehicle diagnostics creates opportunities to reach off-roaders and outdoor-focused drivers. It could also differentiate premium dash cams by emphasizing accident prevention and situational awareness rather than relying primarily on post-incident video evidence.
