Iran fashion is truly making its way into the spotlight. Boris Bidjan Saberi is an up-and-coming designer who is half German and half Persian. Saberi’s S/S 2008 collection presented in Barcelona, Spain is an expression of his desire to explore his Persian heritage. His preference for black fabric, leather and hooded garments speak of a fusion of traditional fashion from Iran and Western styles. Saberi’s collection is another example of the rise in prevalence of fashion from Iranian designers. As Saberi divulges to Vogue, “My neverending story is the Persian part of me. It’s my most unknown part and I have a desire to find all the answers to my questions. My life is sort of a neverending search of new invention and experiments which I couldn’t stop.” Saberi acknowledges that while his German and Iranian heritage has certainly influenced his life, hip hop culture has also played integral role in shaping his interests.
