With Bluetooth technology, these new pen-size computers could soon replace cell phones and laptop computers as the most convenient and portable electronic devices of all.

These special pens project images of a keyboard and monitor on any flat surface. They are currently in development by Japanese manufacturer NEC under the product name P-ISM.

The only negative aspect of this invention appears to be that such small computers may be easily misplaced.

The design concept uses five different pens to make a computer. One pen is a CPU, another a camera, one creates a virtual keyboard, another projects the visual output and thus the display and another a communicator (a phone). All five pens can rest in a holding block which recharges the batteries and holds the mass storage. Each pen communicates wireless, possibly Bluetooth. (wave-report)
