For the first day of Royal Ascot it is customary for people to step out in their finest hats.

Royal Ascot is considered by many to be the premiere event of the flat racing (a type of thoroughbred horse racing) season. The derby hats that were worn to the event were bold and fun. From simple feathers, to hats with themes, there was something for people of every taste.
