Nicholas Thigpen has changed the way I think of self-portraits forever. No longer are they just a medium to solely showcase your good side, your best attributes or the positive aspects of your personality.

This series of self-portraits show Nicholas Thigpen in the most bizarre of circumstances. Whether he’s wearing an egg suit, spitting up beer wearing a full face of grotesque prosthetic makeup, lying face-down and motionless in a playground, or rooting through the refrigerator, Nicholas Thigpen certainly has a knack for arresting photography.
