Avalanches create some of the deadliest and awe-inspiring events one can imagine. In a matter of seconds, snow travels hundreds of feet per second, hurdling down mountain hills and submerging everything in its path.

Swiss photographer Yann Gross decided to photograph the abstract beauty one may find in an avalanche. Embarking on a project that took over five years to photograph, Yann experienced various man-made avalanches to get the perfect shots.

Implications - Yann Gross has said of his photography series that "[...] the very ability to abstract something so powerful and so big as an avalanche seems a kind of human triumph in itself." Yann's ability to capture once in a lifetime moments proves that he will go to extremes to get the right shot.
