 Modern Day Bouffant The 50’s indie style “Alice” bands are popular again to keep hair in place while jumping around in moshpits in outdoor concerts during summer. Also known as “Alice in Wonderland” headbands or super skinny headbands, these hair accessories are not only sported by girls but also by men like David Beckham. These days girls are spotted wearing this super skinny headbands to accessorize another re-emerging trend. Hip girls are wearing these headbands to achieve the modern-day version of the classic bouffant.  Once made glamorous by Jackie Kennedy, the girls from the B-52’s, and even Jeannie from “I Dream of Jeannie,” the new-school version with Alice bands isn’t to achieve hair as high, but more freestyle, messy, and usually worn with longer, angled hair over the forehead. The overall effect provides a rocker/indie sensibility with an accessory that is not hippy, but more modern and sleek.
