Xbox Cloud Gaming Introduces Monthly Playtime Limits And Paid Extra Hours

Microsoft is changing how Xbox Cloud Gaming works for Game Pass subscribers, introducing monthly playtime limits from November. Instead of offering unlimited streaming, the service will give players a set number of hours before they need to pay for additional time.

Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 hours of cloud gaming each month. Xbox Insiders without an active subscription are testing extra playtime packages ahead of a wider rollout, with introductory prices starting at $3.99 for 10 hours. The limits apply to both games included with Game Pass and titles players have purchased separately.

The change means subscribers will need to keep track of how much time they spend streaming games each month. It also adds a new cost for players who rely on cloud gaming to access games they already own without installing them on a console or PC.
