While drivers feel they are getting strangled by gas prices, the gas-rebate gimmick business is running wild. It’s almost to the point that if you are spending money, you can ask for a gas rebate! Hotels are offering gas rebates to travelers like Disney’s Swan and Dolphin who enters guests in a lottery to win a buck for every round-trip mile they are from home.

Gas retailers are giving cash rebates because the percent they pay to credit card companies is killing their profit margin. Car makers are locking in gas prices at a relatively low price for a long period. State run lotteries are incorporating free gas giveaways.
