Crate & Barrel is entering wallcoverings with its first wallpaper line, a set of in-house patterns made by York Wallcoverings for buyers shopping Crate & Barrel, Crate & Barrel Kids and CB2 under three retail banners. The line gives those customers another room-finishing layer beyond paint, moving from quiet neutrals to stronger graphic looks.
York makes the papers with surface-printing methods run on 19th-century equipment, leaving a tactile finish closer to hand-blocked work. Grasscloth and linen add more texture, so the walls carry pattern and depth in a room without needing much extra art or decor.
The collection has been sold only through those brands' online stores since Oct. 7. Online-only placement turns wallpaper into part of the same digital furnishing trip, while York's older printing process widens the category beyond specialty showrooms.
