GPU-Accelerated Grid Calculations

envelio and NVIDIA Speed Up Power Grid Analysis

envelio is advancing gpu-accelerated grid calculations with a power flow solver that helps electricity providers analyze complex networks considerably faster. Powered by NVIDIA computing technology, the system performs physics-based calculations rather than relying on AI approximations, allowing engineers to evaluate grid conditions accurately while reducing processing delays.

Already deployed by Czech distribution operator EG.D, the solver processes electrical network calculations up to 150 times faster than envelio's previous system, reducing processing time by more than 99%. The technology also supports repeated scenario testing and detailed time-series analysis, helping utilities assess changing electricity demands.

For envelio, the deployment demonstrates opportunities to expand accelerated computing across its Intelligent Grid Platform. Utilities could benefit from faster infrastructure decisions, improved investment planning, and more efficient assessments of renewable energy connections and growing electricity requirements.
