The essence of awkwardness is captured in these new illustrations by artist Kathryn Hudson. Through her Disney prom drawings, Hudson has re-imagined Disney princes and princesses alike as nervous teens ready to embark on one of the most monumental nights of their life.
Everyone from Lilo and Stitch to Jane and Tarzan are dressed in their formal best and are ready to head off into the night. The illustration of Belle and the Beast is especially accurate in terms of prom-level awkwardness. Belle nervously grips her clutch while the Beast seems not to know what to do with his big furry limbs.
Disney characters have been re-imagined in many ways, from zombies to dominatrices, but never has a real-life situation been translated so effortlessly into Disney culture. This is awkwardness at its most fantastic.
