The Duvel Collection Design Competition is Looking for Fresh Talent

Makers of the popular Belgian strong ale Duvel have launched the Duvel Collection Design Competition throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom in an effort to find a new look for its definitive tulip glass.

The tulip glass is vital to the enjoyment of Belgian ales such as Duvel. The design traps the aroma of the brew and supports the formation of a lofty head. The flared lip help maintain the head while drinking. Central to the image of the Duvel company, the tulip glass has served as its icon for decades.

Duvel has released limited editions of their tulip glasses before. In 2007, the glassware featured limited-edition designs from artists such as Arne Quinze, Denis Meyers, Parra, Eley Kishimoto, Daan Stuyven and Stefan Glerum. In an effort to keep the designs fresh, Duvel has decided to hold an open casting for the next great designer. Not only is it a great way to uncover hidden talent, it is also an amazing opportunity to generate buzz about the cult brand.

The winner of the Duvel Collection Design Competition will see their work immortalized on a full-scale production of limited-edition tulip glasses. The contest ends on December 15th for those interested.
