A farmer in India was horrified to discover that his missing chickens were not to be blamed on local dogs. One of his cows was on the attack and had developed a habit of eating his chickens alive. Why a vegetarian animal would display carnivorous behaviour is completely baffling to local veterinary staff. The locals however love it and have made a celebrity out of the cow. The animal has been featured on television and has received hundreds of visitors eager to see the phenomenon for themselves.  When his chickens started disappearing a few weeks ago, a farmer in eastern India figured dogs or jackals were to blame - until he discovered his calf making a meal of his poultry.
"I've never read or heard about cows turning carnivorous," said Mihir Tripathy. "They eat grass and other vegetarian food but not fish or other non-vegetarian stuff."
