Popagandarist, also known as Ron English, is known for his deliberately clashing work and has done it again with his classic-rock-meets-classic-art mashups. The pop culture artist has taken the makeup style of classic rock band Kiss and added it to the faces in classic portraits inspired by the Old Masters such as Rembrandt. His collection, “The Secret History of Kiss,” shows white faces with Kiss’ trademark black geometric shapes.
This particular Ron English collection is available from from the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. The Secret History of Kiss is currently being exhibited there until December 2008.
Ron English has previously been featured on Trend Hunter with his political fusion art using the portraits of Barack Obamas and Abraham Lincoln.
