Last night on “American Idol,” Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis proved with their performance of “I Told You So” that sometimes a DJ mashup can bring great beauty. Jesse Tack, an evening radio DJ for WUBE (B105.1) in Cincinnati, orchestrated the mashup of Underwood’s cover of the Travis classic.
The duet form of “I Told You So” was received with great critical acclaim, and it inspired Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis to head into the studio together and record an official version. Last night on “American Idol,” they performed the duet together live for the first time.
"There will be a part of me thinking, 'C'mon, they wouldn't have done this because of some little station in Cincinnati doing a version.' But then I'll think back to the hundreds and hundreds of e-mails I've gotten, and I have to think that some of those stations playing it have to have talked to the labels...
