Solar Electric Cars

The Bluecar by Pininfarina and Bollore Powered by Supercapacitor

You might not know what a supercapacitor is, but the fact that the Bluecar by Pininfarina and Bolloré has one is good enough reason to think it's awesome!

The electric car was created as a result of a 50/50 partnership between the Italian and French auto brands and includes incredibly cutting edge eco features such as a solar paneled roof and solar cells embedded in the car's hood. These are designed to supplement the battery, charging whenever the Bluecar is exposed to the sun's rays. It has a 50kW electric motor that lets it travel a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph) and gives it an electric range of 250 km (152 miles).

The Pininfarina-Bolloré Bluecar is a compact, four-door city flitzer which will enter production in the next few years; they expect around 60,000 of the green mobiles to be zooming around by 2015.
