The Japanese trade of lacquered furniture is a tradition that is over 5,500 years old. The lacquer, which is made from tree sap, is applied to handmade wooden furniture for a glassy, silky look. Yukio Hashimoto has designed a line of durable bathroom furniture for Furo that uses this traditional lacquering technique. The pieces are resistant to heat up to 800 degrees, so don’t be hesitant about using items from this bathroom collection. Hashimoto suggests that his beautiful bathtub be placed in other areas of the home besides the bathroom like the garden or living room so that its pleasing aesthetic can be enjoyed even between baths. |
