The Yinkana Renault 4 Bambou Puts an Eco-Friendly Spin on the Classic Car

By: Michael Hines (Superstar) Sep 7, 11

Society is not that far away from bamboo cars roaming the roads if the Yinkana Renault 4 Bambou is any indication. The Yinkana Renault 4 Bambou is a concept car made almost entirely out of bamboo. The car was designed by Kleist Frank for a competition held by Renault seeking a modernized look for their 4 model.

The Yinkana Renault 4 Bambou has a bamboo chassis, and doors made out of a combination of bamboo and plywood. The car has two trunks, one in the front and one in the rear. The car is powered by a lithium-ion battery mounted in the floor with four electric engines in each of the car’s wheels. Kleist’s design has been named a finalist in the Renault 4 redesign competition. The world is not completely ready for a bamboo car, but it is nice to see a big auto company taking eco-friendly designs seriously.
