World's First Wooden Supercar

The Splinter

I don't think we will ever see those supercars around, but it is still a unique and innovative car. American designer, Joe Harmon, 27, started the project with other students at North Carolina State University to see whether it was possible to build a performance car out of wood. Their creation - the Splinter - should be completed later this year and they believe it will be capable of speeds in excess of 240mph.

Implications - Harmon's obsession and amazement with wood translates to his exceptional projects. He notes that the feel, look and smell of wood are truly one of a kind and cannot be replicated, and the advantages of this material far outweigh the disadvantages.
