Door-Jamming Seats

The Who's There Chair Imitates Defence Strategies in Movies

Jamming a chair under a doorknob to keep home invaders at bay may only work in the movies, unless the potential victim owns the Who's There Chair. Inspired by the iconic and fallible defence strategy used by imaginative Hollywood minds, this piece of furniture turns it into something that actually works.

Designed by Daniel Ballou, an industrial designer living in Long Beach, California, the Who's There Chair boasts a steel-enforced back structure and leveling feet that act like an extension ladder. Carefully measured to meet standard doorknob heights, a notch on the top of the backrest fits in perfectly while the rubber grips on the feet hold the chair in place. This is one case in which life can imitate the movies.
