Proud Mary was started in 2008 when founder and owner Harper Poe returned from work in South America. She fell in love with the culture and customs of the native people, which inspired her to start a business that would promote social change. According to its website, “Proud Mary believes in design that solves problems. We create unique, handcrafted patterned goods that are made in a socially and ecologically responsible manner.”
