Deforestation Fighters

Gashaw Tahir Plants a Million Trees in Ethiopia

Gashaw Tahir was born in Ethopia. He was appalled at the deforestation he saw when he visited the land of his birth after many years' absence. Tahir decided to do something about it and has set out to plant one million trees in Ethiopia.

After enlisting help from the young people in his hometown, Tahir planted 2 acres of land with thousands of seedlings. Through hard work and persistence, Tahir's 'Greenland Foundation,' now owns 11,000 acres and has planted one million trees in Ethiopia.
