While the primary purposes of a product’s wrapper are to protect it and to augment its image, examples like Donec ice cream packaging strive to embody another benefit just for the consumer. When the sweet treat inside has been eaten, or even before it’s been tried, one can engage in a bit of play with the adorable cardboard box.
Yesika Aguin and Julia Castano designed these cute cartons to target a younger consumer base than the company’s Magnum desserts, in this case appealing to children. Five different packages are marked with five different animated faces, each outlined with dashes to invite the use of scissors. The endearing round heads can be cut out of the front of Donec ice cream packaging and used as masks with a licked-clean popsicle stick as a handle.
