Greening Performance Cars
Plans for BMW Front-Wheel Drive and Smaller Carbon Fleetprint

BMW front-wheel drive isn’t a rumor anymore: It’s going to be a reality. While BMW will probably limit front-wheel drive to a few select models, using it in their smaller cars will help to reduce the BMW fleet’s carbon emissions.

The BMW front-wheel drive plans were announced at the Geneva motor show in March. The plans have purists recoiling in horror at the idea that BMW would dare switch from the powerful rear-wheel drive that has made BMW performance famous, but those with environmental concerns think it may be a move in the right direction.
