Clever and funny marketing always does the trick when it comes to promoting the use of prophylactics. The Manchester City Council has applied humor to a set of ads to create awareness for Manchester’s ‘Any Plans Tonight’ website, a site that encourages the use of contraceptives and provides information about sexual health.
Developed by the council’s in-house agency M.Four, the campaign for the Any Plans Tonight website comprise a few ads with clever tag lines. For instance, one poster features an illustrated guitar with two drums on either side of the guitar’s neck, with the statement, “Whatever you do tonight, make sure you’re ready to rock.”
According to Craig Green at M.Four, the campaign was meant to be “a bit cheeky, but not offensive; something teenagers would notice and talk about.”
