The Alphabet-Can Concept Allows You to Label Your Beverage With Its Lid

If the Alphabet-Can were to be implemented across the canned beverage industry, it would offer consumers everywhere the satisfaction and assurance that they're sipping from their own receptacles. The prospect might not sound overly exciting for everyday drinking, but this feature would be especially useful in the event of a party.

Designers Yan Shuning, Liu Xuefei and Fang Di submitted this proposal to the Red Dot Design Awards as a user-friendly system for labeling identical beer and pop cans. Printed directly onto the aluminum tops of each container would be an arc of all 26 letters from A to Z.

A faint arrow molded into the tip of the metal tab acts as a spinning pointer. The Alphabet-Can drinker can rotate it to indicate a specific character, corresponding to the first letter of his or her name.
