To fight counterfeit, Dynamo Capital, a film consulting and financial firm, is selling DVD movies for COP$5,000 (around $2 dollars) a piece.
Despite the extremely low price, each copy has high-quality standards: hi-definition audio and video, extras, photos and director comments. The first title released is “Satanas” an award winning Colombian movie based on the real story of a murder in a restaurant in Bogota.
According to Dynamo, the model works because the costs of each DVD aren’t passed to each customer. They are paid by advertisers which are featured in short clips at the beginning of the film displaying discount coupons and links to measure its success.
