The 56 Pink Flamingos Movie Addresses the Ordinary

The 56 Pink Flamingos movie is being co-directed by film students Andrea Varsany and Matthew Bianchi. The two have put their minds together in the hopes of producing a short movie that looks at the little pops of color that make even the most mediocre life worth living.

This independent video is centered upon the life of Catherine Sumner, a middle aged woman who lives at home with her pregnant sister and brother-in-law. When she is forced to move into her basement, a co-worker helps her with the process and is in turn introduced to her bland life. Their relationship prompts that co-worker to surprise her with 56 pink flamingos, hence the name.

Varsany and Bianchi’s interest in all things mundane separates them from their contemporaries. They have found a sense of thrill in the most basic of lifestyles, speaking to their artistic vision and alternative outlooks. The current indiegogo fundraiser will help to bring this imaginative project to fruition.
