Wooden Egg Workspaces

Plywood Egg Chairs Bring the Community Together, Separately

Working with Plus Architecture, designer Emma Selzer has created plywood ‘Egg Chairs’ that will be incorporated into a new apartment complex in Melbourne Australia. These pods will be placed in a public lounge as one of the many community spaces planned for the development known as ‘Society.’

These independent working stations are designed to accommodate one seated individual with a small desk for his laptop. The irony, or perhaps the appeal, of the stacked plywood ‘Egg Chairs’ is that the space encourages companionship, while the pods themselves and the activity they host isolate each person.
