A team of British engineers has come up with a biogas-powered car that uses human waste and excrement from sewage works. The Bio-bug car is Britain's first car to run on methane gas. This energy-efficient car needs only excrement flushed from toilets of 70 homes to power the car for 1,000 miles.
Sustainable energy firm GENeco developed the Bio-bug from a conventional two-liter VW Beetle convertible. The car has a top speed of 114 mph and does 5.3 miles per cubic metre of biogas. According to GENeco, the Bio-bug will be able to save 19,000 tons of CO2 a year.
