Gojin Ishihara Makes Creepy Children Book Covers

Artist Gojin Ishihara makes these really creepy children book covers. Even I got the chills when I saw these pictures. Ishihara drew these illustrations using traditional Japanese methods. I understand that Japanese folklore is filled with demons, and these covers show many of these demons in precise detail.

Those with better knowledge of the Japanese culture might find not find these book covers as scary as I do. What do you think?

Implications - Consumers in modern society are looking for familiar items but with a contemporary twist. Designs that combine these two elements together appeal to shoppers who to be reminded of simpler times while still looking towards the future. Companies could integrate these two aspects together in order to attract more customers.
