One of three designs to win “Best In Show” at the 2010 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA Awards), the Easy Latrine uses simple methods and materials to solve a problem that plagues much of the world: the lack of hygienic toilet facilities.
The Easy Latrine is designed to be a simple sanitation system that can be inexpensively made from locally sourced materials. International Development Enterprises' Easy Latrine project was backed by USAID and the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program.
